On Sunday I went on a road-trip to McAllen for the last away game of the season. It was awesome riding in the bus with the fans which they showed a lot of team spirit throughout the whole day. I went there to record the whole game but I also managed to take some photos as well. It was really fun multitasking as you can imagine me with my video camera on right hand and the photography camera on my left taking photos, not to mention I had a backpack with my tripod attached to it. LoL Well here are some photos I took of the game .  - Abel E. Alvarado

El Maguey Bar Lounge

June 29, 2009

A few weeks ago we were hired to document an event at Laredo’s newest night club. I’ll be the first to say, that this place is very savvy and is a great hang out spot.
Reminds me of a lounge I visited once in NYC. The service is exceptional as well. As soon as we walked in, some nice looking ladies greeted us and introduced us to the place. We quickly got to work since we knew that we needed to get some shots before the place opened up for business. By the end of the night both us felt we had done a pretty good job in documenting the night.

Special thanks to Glow Worm Entertainment, 2 Dope Dave, The Fresh Mob, and everyone else that helped out for the video..!!

The video came out great!!

Our first award.

One of Abel’s goal is too one day be able to lift up an Oscar Award for best Director/Cinematographer. In fact this is his number one goal! We’ve had numerous conversations in which we go on talking about who we would thank. If today we’d get an Oscar, this is what our thank you list would include.

- MOM/ DAD & brothers..
- Diosito lindo!! (the great man upstairs)
- Our wife’s and kids..(That’s if Abel ever gets married and decides he wants kids..)
-The guy next to me (jeff, abel)
- Laredo, TX culture. (Its made us who we are..We are the most unique city in the world!!)
- Marcela Moran (Our film and photography professor at TAMIU)
- And __________ for playing the lead role and producing the film!! (Fill in the blank with the following: Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Kanye West, or The guy from the Harry potter movies.. haha)

Today we received our first ever award. Jesus Martinez founder/President of Brown Impressions Car Club handed us an awarded for our great work during the last car show. We were hired to photograph all the cars in the show…”the pictures came out amazing!!!” (see previous blog on car show to view pics). It might not be an Oscar or a Moonman but we have to start some where. I guess its special to me since its our first ever official award. I can bet you that our wall is the only studio that has something else than just pictures.. Check it out.

KING RC, THE FRESH MOB

June 14, 2009

We shot this at 12am. We came up with the idea over a few beers and it turned out to be one of the best shoots Ive done. It seems to me that spontaneous ideas are sometimes more original than if you sit down and try to come up with something. Anyways here they are.. comment on the pics…

POOL PARTY

June 11, 2009

I recently did a photo shoot for my niece April. The pics were for her upcoming pool party.

I got to say that it was extremely hot when we were doing the shoot.
The whole session was cut short because of the 100 plus degree weather.

April was a natural in front of the camera and we were able to get all the shots we needed in about 25 minutes.

Check out the shots…..

HIP HOP NIGHTS

June 10, 2009

This Friday we got hired to go document the first ever Hip Hop party by Glow Worm Entertainment.

check out the teaser.

June 9, 2009

Last Saturday we got hired  to do promotion video for one of the most talked about Dj’s in Laredo. Most of us know him by the name 2 dope dave.

MR. 2 Dope Dave has been scratching and mixing since about the 7th grade. During his freshmen year of high school he saved enough money to buy his own turn tables.

“I actually started off as a break dancer  at the age of 5…and then fell in love with the music…by the time I knew it, I was making my own mixes on tape” -2 dope dave during a recent conversation

Since then he has played in over 100’s of parties, night clubs, events and concerts!

Im glad to say that Abel and BJ did an awesome job on making this promo video for 2 Dope’s performance at Karma lounge. Check out the video !!

Special thanks to DJ Kickback for providing us with the mix for the video and BJ Gonzalez a.k.a. Tom Cruise for being the VJ.

BROWN IMPRESSIONS

June 7, 2009

The Brown Impressions Low Rider Car Club celebrated their 30 year anniversary today. Abel and I were in charge of taking at least 3 pictures of each car, which will be published in the Low Rider Car Magazine. It will be the first time I get one of my pictures published in a mainstream magazine. This was a very cool project that allowed us to try out different camera/lighting techniques. Each car had a different paint job (color)/ glossy and were positioned in different angles with very limited space. Not to mention, 1000’s of people were all walking around checking out the cars which made it a bit harder for us to get the right frame. Im glad to say that we did get some awesome pics. Overall, the car show was a great success!! I personally want to thank Jesus Martinez, President of Brown Impressions and his family that treated us like family. Im really looking forward to shooting more car shows!! Once we finished at the show, Abel headed out to finish shooting the long awaited music video for Mako Rayo.

Check out the pics..!@@
